Everywhere we find that facet, in ourselves obviously. We always tend to compare that ability with each other. One sentence I have heard on many occasions is: «I'm not a very creative person.». All these I want to tell you... We're all creative! No one has taught us how to be, no one has told us how to train him or what we have to do. There's no subject at school or college. How do you want to do a complicated mathematical operation when you're not even clear how to add or subtract. In some way, life, people, or yourself, drives us to follow static paths, where we create our comfort areas very difficult to break for many justified reasons. This should not prevent us from using our imagination to seek better solutions, results in all the facets of our life, in the end to be more creative.
Whether to find a solution to a problem, or an artistic interpretation we have to imagine and analyze, what do we feel? What do we want to solve? How do we want to transmit it? In case you face a blank canvas I propose something very simple, first look at the details, the simple things, a leaf, a cloud, how the coffee has stained the table, a song... It may seem to lead nowhere, but when we look, we find material to have in the future reasons for inspiration. See and analyze other painters try to understand how it has reached that point, which tools has also used us to nourish material to draw our own conclusions and inspire us.
It was Steve Jobs who said, "Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask someone how they did something, they feel something guilty because they don't really know how they did it, they just saw something. After a while they found it obvious. That's because they were able to connect experiences they had and synthesize new things."
So creative being, inspiration doesn't come this way because yes, there is a field work before, then an analysis of what surrounds us and where we want to get to. It's an introspective work when we have enough material we can start creating.
«The inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.» Pablo Picasso.
I give you a personal example of that inspiration:
It was on a trip to Venezuela, the truth is that it is not necessary to go far to find ideas but in this case it was so. Going up the Angel's jump I repaired in a composition of stones and reflections that fascinated me. I had fun with my photo camera for a few minutes looking for the best way to get him, then my interpretation of how to paint him on the canvas would come. I show you the photos and the result of the process. A painting with acrylic in tones, white, sepia to transmit more intensity. As I told you before the ideas are there, you just have to realize, be careful...
In future interventions I will propose more concrete exercises to stimulate creativity if you find it interesting...
